"A picture is worth a thousand words."
This famous English idiom has a figurative and literal meaning. It simply means that a complex idea can be easily conveyed with just a picture, that the picture conveys its meaning more efficiently than the description. And not just an idea but an entire story. Yes! I am not exaggerating. I am simply stating the truth. But (There is always a but, isn't it?), sometimes we have to look very closely. We have to observe, maybe the story isn't in the focus of the picture. The blurred image has something to share too, sometimes it holds more power than the focus of the picture. And that gives the picture its power. I am definitely not saying that the focus of the picture doesn't hold any value. It sure does! This is why I fell in love with the idea of it all. Taking pictures and capturing all those stories.
We live in a world where almost everything is being photographed, everything. Some people think the concept of taking pictures has lost its definition. But I strongly disagree. I have seen people taking pictures just for themselves. It is not always about having an Instagram account that can influence people. Sometimes it's about sharing that story with the world. Don't you think it's a little selfish of us not sharing that story? I personally would never commit that crime, never. There are people who have different intentions but who are we to judge. Everyone is free to express themselves, in whatever way they choose. I have chosen Pictures.
The story that the picture tells means so much more than just a camera click. Especially the pictures that depict culture, habits, and struggles of the world. It is hard to describe an emotion but one can feel it just by taking a glance at the picture. Everything that is happening all around the world needs to be heard by its people. It is easier to share these stories through pictures rather than words. Never underestimate photography and pictures. I promise to keep telling all those stories with every tool that I have. Because every story deserves to be heard.
